On behalf of our client Specsavers Sweden, a major international retail company, we are now recruiting the position as Head of Finance. This position takes responsibility for all areas of finance, providing robust financial reporting and impactful business insights. The group consists of 12 persons and this position has 3 direct reports and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. The position reports to the Northern Europe Finance Director.

Job description:
You will develop business acumen in the management and store-facing teams in order to help the formulation and delivery of business strategy. In your role you will work with the Country Management Team to develop, execute and track the impact of initiatives that drive the performance of Specsavers and out partners’ stores. This role also supports commercial analysis and business decision-making within the country, anticipating and interpreting business requirements, bringing insight, challenge and providing analysis as a valued business partner.

In this role you perform activities such as:
• Support the commercial decision making process enabling the functions to make fact-based decisions

• Review investment decisions to ensure that expectation have been delivered

• Challenge the decision making process, providing transparency in estimates and results, and add value to key business decisions.

• Create and constantly develop quality store financial and KPI reporting

• Work with peers and store partners to grow the business and increase store and overall business profitability

• Contribute to and ensure local delivery of the Nordic and country business plans

• Oversee all accounting procedures and systems including their maintenance and security hierarchies

•Period end processing to agreed timetables and preparation of reporting packs as well as business decision analytics and reporting

• Lead and develop the local Finance team and participate to regional and group initiatives

Qualifications and profile:
You are a professionally qualified accountant with a post-graduate university business degree. You have a minimum of 10 years of post-qualified experience, with at least 5 in a commercial and international matrix environment. Previous experience in a retail environment and a broad knowledge of the competitive landscape in strongly valuable.

We expect you to take time and build relationships to understand partners, business objectives and also demonstrate a broad business perspective. You will also strive to gain an understanding of the global market conditions, industry issues and the competition. You have a strong business acumen and provide solid fact based opinions, combined with having excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards change in a fast paced industry.

As a person you are a commercially driven accountant with extensive years of post-qualified experience. You have the ability to question and challenge peers, and store partners in a constructive manner. To succeed in this role you are also a strong and motivating team leader with the ability to support as well as empower.

You have excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, written as well as spoken. High level of IT literacy including Excel skills are required.
